not a typo - this is a pictures from LAST year, 2012.  was in the "draft" pile in the blogger files, so i went ahead and posted it now

did ZERO with the garden this spring - between baseball and putting in landscaping in the front of the house and mulching, haven't had much time this spring.  but bought 16 tomato plants yesterday at southern states and put those in last night.  also have one 'volunteer' tomato plant from last year coming up plus some volunteer potatoes.  so hopefully we'll have a decent crop this year, at least of tomatoes...hopefully.

looking over the prior posts, looks like i wasn't too good about keeping notes last summer.  i recall the harvest being about a 3 on a 1-10 scale. some carrots, greens, snap peas, potatoes.  almost no tomatoes.

Put the tomato trellises up today
also built a small trellis in bed 1 for the snap peas and put up some posts in bed 2 for the snap peas there. wishing the snap peas were a row or two up so as not to shade the smaller tomatoes
harvested 2nd round of lettuce (first round this past Saturday April 29).
bought 4 more tomatoes, but didn't plant yet - a few of the existing look a bit yellow - got too cold for them in april? i clipped off the yellow leaves, but not sure if i should go head and replace those entire plants
potatoes, brocolli, bibb lettuce, snap peas all looking great
oninons - in 2 square, but only 2 or 3 look like they are alive.
squash/cukes starting to take hold
carrots starting to move along
spinach looks rough - think i should just skip that next year.

April 23, 2012

Pretty much everything is in the ground now.  Put tomatoes (17!) in last week.  Replaced 2 of the cukes and 2 yellow squash as they seemed to have some frost damage.  about ready to harvest lettuce.  you can almost watch the potatoes grow they are moving so fast.  need to get some sort of fencing up for snap peas soon.

bought some broccoli and cauliflower seedlings a few weeks ago and planted them in bed 1. we'll see how they do - only one has died so far. also planted some spinach and carrots from seed at the same time. still lots of green tomatoes (did i scare the squirrel off?) but they seem to rot before they ripen.
